Pushkar Camel Fair
The hugely popular Pushkar Camel Fair is a brilliant collaboration of two brilliant fairs which held at the same place, Pushkar, Rajasthan. The largest camel fair is one of the festivals which has been celebrated with huge fanfare. During this festival, various breeds of cattle, bulls, horse, camel and donkey have been brought from all from Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana. Trading of the cattle takes place during this fair. Just one week before the Kartik purnima, the fair commences and comes to end by full moon night.
This is another immensely popular festival of Pushkar! According to the legends, Lord Brahma killed demon by his Lotus flower. The petals of flower fell into three places, where Pushkar is one of them. A holy lake also formed there, which is also called Pushkar Lake. People from all over the world come here to take dip into the holy water to wash away their sins. The holy lake holds huge significance to the hindus, as Lord Brahma declared that taking bath in it during the five days of Kartik poornima will lead to salvation.
